To Kill a Mockingbird summary #4

Page 227-309, chapter 21-31
The trial for Tom Robinson is still going on, during the day Scout and Jem was gone, this was noticed by Calpurnia. Then later on Atticus knew that Scout and Jem are in the colored balcony. Jem and Scout wanted to hear the verdict. So Calpurnia just took the kids for dinner and in the evening they went back to the courtroom. The courtroom was still full, Jem was listening with anger, because Tom is still the one who needs to go to prison. In Alabama, white guys always win the colored guys. Jem was crying that night because of the injustice verdict. Later on Tom Robinson has been sent to another prison. He was trying to escape, so he was shot to death. It was hard for Atticus to tell the Robinson’s family that Tom was dead and also for Scout to know about it. Tom’s dead is nothing but a dead of a weak people. He should’ve been protected better than this but because of Bob Ewell who wins him in the trial that causes him to be sent to the prison.
One day Aunt Alexandra took the missionary to Atticus’s house for tea and Scout was also there. They were talking about the weak people all over the world, this is a part from the lesson that Scout learns. When summer was about to end, Scout saw the bug and she was about to stab it, but Jem stopped her and said that do not do anything to the bug, because it didn’t harm you or do anything to you. Just like when Atticus told the kids about killing Mockingbird is a sin because Mockingbirds do not harm anything. When summer ends and the kids return back to school, its time for them to pass the Radley’s house again, this time they were not as fear of the house as before because they grew up.
Bob Ewell who was in the trial gets a job but he lose it a few days later because Atticus took his job. So he was so furious. One day Bob Ewell was following Helen Robinson or wife of Tom Robinson, he was about to do something bad to her but someone found him following Helen first so he stopped Bob. Aunt Alexandra concerns that Bob Ewell has some anger with everyone who connected to the case. One night when there’s a Halloween party, Scout went there with Jem because Atticus and Aunt Alexandra didn’t want to go with them. On the way when they were back home. Scout and Jem got attacked by Bob Ewell but Scout didn’t get hurt, Jem did. Then there’s a guy who carries Jem back home, first Scout didn’t realize who he was but then she knew that he was Boo Radley or Arthur Radley. Then later on they just knew that Bob Ewell was dead with a knife stabbed on him. It could tell that he was meant to stab the kids but he could because Boo Radley helped the kids first.
Scout just realizes that Boo Radley is actually a nice person. Scout has been chatting with Boo for a while so now she knows that he is a real nice person. There’s a phrase in the story which says “Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them. Just standing on the Radley porch was enough.”Scout has grown throughout this story. She has seen people around her and learns from them, from their mistakes, from the injustice of this world and from the unfairness of this world.
