Imagery Questionaires
1. What scences, moments, descriptive passages, phrases, or words stand out in your reading of the story?
The scene was in page 337, paragraph 4-5, where it says "When the night of the dance came, we put on our dresses and set off together in Mother's Mini, giggling slightly with nerves. But when we reached the Menheniots' house, we stopped giggling because the whole affair was so grand as to be awesome. There wwere floodlights and car parks and hundreds of sophisticated-looking people all making their way towards the front door. Indoors, we stood at the foot of the crowded staircase, and I was filled with panic. We knew nobody. There was not a single familiar face. Lalla whisked a couple of glasses of champagne from a passing tray and gave me one."
2. Did a particular image make you feel happy, or frightened, or disturbed, or angry? Why?
It makes me feel happy, I can imagine this passage immediately after I read it, because I have seen so many scenes like this in the movies. I can easily imagine the scence. I am happy because I feel like watching the movie that I like while reading this passage.
3. Which of your five senses did this image appeal to? What do you associate witht this image, and why? What do you think the author wants you to feel about a certain image?
I think the hearing part most appeal to this passage, because the scence was set in a party and I imagined it that this party is full with noises. I think it's actually appeal to all the senses because it was also talking about drinking champaigne so I can also feel it. I think the author wanted the reader to feel how newvous the sisters were at this moment, because it was explaining about how they were nervous because of this ball.
4. How do you think that your reactions to the imagery in the story contribute to the overall meaning of the story?
I think that the overall meaning of the story was trying to focus on the love of Lalla, and this scene was the scene that led Lalla to meet with the two guys that will become her love and they will act out the story together. My reaction led to know how they feels about this party and how they are going to feel later on during the party which they will also feel almost the same way with the guys that will come in the main character's life.
